Pursuing a career path to psychology.
Pursuing a career path to psychology.

I’ve always been the person my friends come to when they need to talk, and that really sparked my interest in how our brains and emotions work. Seeing so many people my age struggle with stress and anxiety made me realize how much we need good mental health support, and it made me want to become a psychologist. I love the idea of a career where I can actually help people figure things out and feel better when they are going through a rough patch. It is a stable job with a lot of options, but mostly, I just want to do something meaningful after I graduate and spend my life making a real difference for people who are hurting.
Knowing I wanted to pursue a challenging career, I focused on Honors/ Dual Enrollment courses. My educational path has included as many extracurriculars as possible. I am very privileged to attend Saraland High School. It is considered the #2 high school in Mobile County and one of the best in the state. Our teachers work tirelessly to make sure we are prepared for college. Additionally, being a member of NJHS, Beta Club, and the National Honor Society has pushed me to collaborate and problem-solve alongside other high-achieving peers. This community has sharpened my analytical thinking skills, reinforced my dedication to academic excellence, and taught me how to be a resourceful leader.

I was fortunate to grow up in a family that believed in community service. My parents taught me the importance of giving back throughout my life. Whether it meant waking up early to volunteer at the food bank, working with younger children, or cleaning up the community, they always instilled the value of service. The joy and belief in good that come from serving your community are unlike any other. My time at the Saraland Public Library has allowed me to step outside the classroom and drive positive change locally. This experience has also sharpened my communication and innovative thinking as I collaborated with staff to meet the diverse needs of our community members.

Evidence shows that students involved in extracurricular activities are more interested in school than their peers. Being involved in clubs has helped me develop new interests, make lifelong friends, develop new skills, and engage in meaningful activities in real-world settings.

My educational journey at Saraland High School has helped me become well-rounded. I've learned to balance my time between my classes, work, church, extra-curricular activities, and home life. These experiences will continue to mold me into a successful college student.

Strengthening my ties to my community helped me to realize how my actions can positively impact others. The skills I have obtained will help me be a better college student and, eventually, a better employee in the workforce. We can work together to make the world a better place and ensure our community's needs are met.
